Causes Of Gout

Gout is a painful disease of the joints, which usually affects the big toe first in most people. It is caused by too much uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is formed by the breakdown of chemicals called purines, which can lead to high levels of uric acid and cause many problems such as joint swelling and kidney stones. Normally the uric acid is dissolved in the blood and passes out via the kidneys into the urine but if this does not occur it can build up in the body and cause the crystals to deposit and cause gout.

Some genetic diseases affect the breakdown of uric acid and also cause it to build up. Other causes include exposure to lead, foods high animal protein, some medications, obesity, excess alcohol or foods rich in purines. Some foods that cause gout are organ meats such as liver, brain and kidneys. Other foods include herring, anchovies, peas and dried beans. Alcohol affects the elimination of uric acid especially when taken in excess.

Medications such as diuretics (which help the kidney eliminate more urine) or aspirin cause gout. And people who have had an organ transplant are prone to gout. Patients on numerous medicines should talk to their healthcare provider to see if there are interactions between medicine and if an alternate drug may help. The common vitamin niacin can also trigger gout.

Low carbohydrate diets, especially when very protein rich and with inadequate water intake can also cause gout. A family history of gout may also predispose a person towards getting it.

Gout provides detailed information about gout, foods that cause gout, and more. Gout is affiliated with Osteoarthritis Treatment.

Curb Appeal - First Impressions Count When Selling Your Home

People selling their homes via real estate brokers get lots of coaching. People selling their own homes as FSBOs need the same. One of the most important topics on which FSBOs can benefit from coaching is “curb appeal.” How does your home look when a potential buyer drives up to the curb and takes that all important first look?

Be Sure It Looks Great

Single family residences require the most work. The FSBO seller of a single family home also has the most control of what is seen from the curb, so let’s start there. Make sure grass is cut, leaves are raked, sidewalks swept and edged, and planting beds are freshly mulched. That’s just the beginning.

Narrow walks leading to front doors are not inviting. If you can afford to have the walk replaced with a wider one, do it. A walk with some curve to it is often appealing. One which is wider where it meets the public walk and wider as it reaches the front steps can look particularly inviting. If two men can approach your front door side by side without jostling each other, your walk is sufficiently wide.

What if you have a narrow walk and a small budget? You can improvise with brick, stone, or concrete pavers from Lowes or Home Depot if you’re handy and healthy. Choose whichever material is most compatible with your house. Dig out the grass on either side of your walk and lay a line of the chosen paving materials parallel along each side of your walk. Fill in with mulch (not the colored type, just good earth toned natural stuff, please), sand, or river gravel. Make sure there’s a crisp edge where the grass starts.

Large, overgrown shrubs that crowd the house and cover windows are a negative. Prune them back. If there is a narrow planting bed along the front of the house, widen it. Have the bed swoop in a curve around to the side of the house. Depending on the size and scale of the house, plant something like a dogwood, a butterfly bush or a holly in the curve at the corner of the house. Make sure it will not be so close or so large as to overwhelm the house in a few years. Fill in with smaller plants at the front of the widened bed. Mulch. Mulch. Mulch. But the mulch should be only two or three inches deep. Don’t let it pile up on the trunks of trees.

Plant colorful flowers in containers on either side of the front door if the season is conducive. Geraniums work well in sunny spots. Impatiens are good in shade. Make sure the containers are of natural materials. Most plastic containers look tacky and cheap. Advertisements for luxury cars show them near expensive houses and beautifully dressed people for a reason. Association. You want the things seen on the way to your front door to be in good taste and of excellent quality. Fortunately, that doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be expensive. Clay pots are good. Old iron urns are great with traditional homes. Oak barrels can look wonderful with rustic homes. The addition of a bit of trailing ivy or sweet potato vines can be attractive. It’s possible to achieve a miniature garden by combining several sorts of plants in larger containers.

Make sure the front door is clean and the paint is in good condition. Be sure it swings on its hinges well. It needs to open and close well and firmly. The doorknob should work well and not have any “bobble” motion when it’s used. Exterior light fixtures should be clean and free of rust. Front windows should be clean and shining.

When preparing to sell your house, make sure you get everything in order. As superficial as it may sound, curb appeal is a dominant factor in getting sales.

Finding the Cheapest Home Insurance Quote

While the Press and Media are always telling us to shop around for the cheapest home insurance quote, it can be difficult to do if you don’t know where to start. Here we explain the best places to look - and how to ensure you get the best price on your home insurance quote.

Did you know that complacency is the biggest reason why we overpay on our insurance? And that’s not just home insurance, but motor insurance too. The renewal notice drops through your letterbox once a year from your current insurer and the premium doesn’t look much more expensive than last year. So, you decide, for ease (and - dare we say it - out of sheer laziness!) to stick with the same insurer.

Big mistake!

While you may be happy with your current insurer, if you want to pay less for your insurance, then you really do need to shop around - if only to satisfy yourself that you really have got the best deal going!

And this needn’t be an exhaustive exercise that eats in to your precious time - you don’t have to trawl the High Street or make lots of ‘phone calls - you can do it simply and quickly from the comfort of your PC.

The great thing about using the internet to search out home insurance quotes is that it is speedy, free and you don’t have to converse with anyone, thus saving you time and effort! You can also do it 24/7, giving you the freedom to do your research at a time convenient to you.

And because the with online quotes and purchases there is less administration to do for the insurer, they can offer you discounts, typically 5%-15% off the normal premium!

Finally, to ensure you find the right policy at the best price, do get at least three home insurance quotes so that you can compare terms and conditions etc. Try to get each quote on a like for like basis so that you can make a true cost comparison - do not make the mistake of choosing the cheapest premium without checking out that there is no compromise on the cover offered.

5 Ways to Build a Website

If you are like me you have wanted to build a website but didn’t know how!

Why?

Because you haven’t learned html

Because it costs too much to have someone do it
for you.

The software you have found is too complicated

You just didn’t have the time or patience to read
the 500-page manual

There was no one to teach you how to do it.

Well let’s review those one by one.

You didn’t build a website because you haven’t learned
html.

With today’s easy to use html text editors you can build
a website as easy as typing a word document. You need to
learn very little of the html coding and what you do need
is very easy to learn if taught properly.

You didn’t build a website because it costs too much to
have someone do it for you.

Well that’s a fact! If you have someone do it for you,
you will have to pay a web designer Big Bucks to create it.
To get just what you want, optimized by keywords, with the
look and feel you desire you will spend as much time with
the designer as if you did it yourself. And then pay them
more when you need changes!

You didn’t build a website because the software is too
complicated.

Most of the software is designed with the professional in
mind. All the bells and whistles add to the complexity of
the product. Which makes you wonder where you are even
going to start. Throw in the fact that you need to master
a few other programs to support the design software and
you have a confusing tangle of programs to learn all at
once.

You didn’t build a website because you just didn’t have
the time or patience to read the 500 page manual.

Not to mention that you have to read the manual more than
once to understand things, so you can learn by trail and
error. And are you ever sure you did it the right way? Was
there a shortcut you didn’t know about? Are there other
programs you can use to make it easier and faster to get
a website up.

You didn’t build a website because there was no one to
teach you how to do it.

A tutor or html training course is a great way to
learn how to build websites. Preferably if you can get
one-on-one tutoring.The problem is one-on-one tutoring
is very expensive.

Many group courses are taught when it’s convenient for
the teacher not the student. After the class is done
there is no on going tutoring or ability to ask questions
when you run into problems.

So what’s the answer?

Learn on line with an html video tutorial series.
An html video tutorial that teaches you step by step at
your own pace how to build a website. You can rewind a
section and play it over again if you don’t understand it.

And what if this tutorial product includes all the
software you will need FREE. Along with the live video
tutoring on how to use all of it.

You can build a website as you go through it. When you
have completed the video tutorial you will have a built
a working website. I mean a WORKING web site.
Done! Finished! Completed!

There was no one to teach you how to do it

You are now ready to work on that all important marketing
of your website. As you learn how to market your site,
making the necessary changes are a snap for you! Because
you were able to build a website. And now you can edit
it yourself.

Give yourself some credit. It’s a lot more rewarding when
you do it yourself. And, if you are like me you don’t have
the money to waste trying a lot of different things.

The History Of Flyer Design.

The history of flyer design can be traced back as far as the 16th century to a method of promotion which in itself is a centuries old art and takes the form of poster design. With an improvement in lithograph printing came the birth of the colourful poster as a method to astound as well as advertise. From Toulouse-Lautrec’s first poster, Moulin Rouge to Alphonse Mucha, a Czech living in Paris who designed the first Art Noveau poster the poster was now to be appreciated as a piece of fine art. Between the end of the 18th century and the end of World War II there had been many highly successful and prominent uses of the poster design in promoting everything from Absinthe in Paris, bullfighting in Spain, The Circus in the UK to American conscription with the inspired “I want you” Uncle Sam posters.

In the sixties the flyer design began as a colourful and popular method of mass advertising for those promoters on a low budget and became increasingly popular as psychedelic imagery was incorporated into the design to promote bands The Rolling Stones, The Doors and Pink Floyd.
From the idealistic and mind altering imagery of the 60s came the photocopied and anarchic punk flyers used by punk bands in Britain such as The Sex Pistols and The Buzzcocks. America had its own hardcore punk scene to design for and had flyers promoting The Ramones and The New York Dolls amongst many others. The designs seemed to fit the mood as monotone designs using ripped pages and imagery of DM boots and mohican haired punks were distributed amongst the punk population.

With the birth of electronic dance music came a new wave of design which would lead to the flyer design of the present day. Taking inspiration from the Ecstasy fueled nights and early mornings of raves across Britain the designs usually took the form of hedonistic and surreal imagery with large use of colour.Everything from 3D vectors to fractal shapes were mixed with staring eyes and dancing figures to promote events such as Fantazia, Amnesia and Rezurrection. A spiritual element pervaded across a lot of these early rave flyer designs.

And so to the present where flyer and poster design is now more popular and accessible as it ever has been. Flyers are designed using a mixture of traditional and modern art and feature in galleries and exhibitions across the world. The club flyer is more popular now as a method of promoting your event or in conveying your message to the public in the most colourful and informative way possible. Until the purely digital flyer can replace the printed flyer in accessibility and popularity, flyer design and printing is alive and well.

Surfboard Lighting Concept

There is just not enough time during the day to surf. Many times the best surf is at night, how often do you challenge a sunset to catch that last wave? Well thin you are a surf-aholic and as you have seen out there you are not alone. There is some new killer technology on the horizon for the dedicated surfer.

Recently we have seen WiFi surf boards so you can do your email between sets. This works pretty good and I was jazzed when I first heard of it. Surfing while surfing makes a lot of sense. Still waiting on the mail order as this article is finished, but here is some more information on that.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/3812357.stm

If your ocean becomes your office and your surfboard becomes your desk, what if you decide to work late or early? Well this is why I am going to figure out how to run my surfboard laptop, WiFi and headlight on electromagnetic energy? As you know batteries and water do not mix all that well. You say headlight; on a surfboard; come again? Yes, that is what I said; now then I have tried this already via a battery-less flashlight and duct tape.

The waves provide a good amount of movement. Which is need to power up the new electromagnetic induction technology flashlights, which charge a capacitor instead of the working off a battery. Currently there are some nifty micro-flashlights being used which you can buy which use a similar technique and are available thanks to the Everlite Flashlight technology research lab. These smaller flashlights work by shaking them for about thirty seconds and shine for about 6 minutes and they shine quite bright since they use a very bright LED light. Here is a link to this home use flashlight:

http://www.modernoutpost.com/gear/details/ee_shakelight.html

Here is a quick movie you can watch online to see how this technology works.

http://www.modernoutpost.com/gear/movies/ee_forever.MPG

I propose we get a really smart Surfboard making entrepreneur with some balls to put on of these flashlights inside the surfboard rather than having to duct tape it on top. We can test it for them and get some free surfboards. I propose that the front of the surfboard have an automotive style headlight lens with the LED light inside. Think on this now, surf on it later.

Buying Pre-foreclosure - The Flexible Foreclosure Buying

I’m sure you know what pre-foreclosure is. But do you know buying a pre-foreclosure can actually save you up to 40% of the market value of the pre-foreclosure house? Or you are actually already thinking to buy a pre-foreclosure? Either way, you will need info to know more about pre-foreclosure and further decide your strategy to buy pre-foreclosure.

For your info, pre-foreclosure happens when home owner has missed at least one payment of the loan. The lender will then issue a Notice of Default which is a public record asking the home owner to respond to the un-paid payment/loan. This is the first legal stage of a home being foreclosed. Home owners have to respond fast to show their motivation to solve the problem. Foreclosure home owners will be very motivated to look for home buyers to buy their house during this very period.

There are always advantages and disadvantages of buying pre-foreclosure. One has to get the balance point within the advantages and disadvantages. Buying pre-foreclosure could be very prosperous in return but in another hand, it might be a nightmare.

Talking on its advantages, the sale agreements of buying pre-foreclosure could be flexible and adjustable. For the agreement only involves 2 parties - buyers (us) and the home owner. Thus, as long as the pre-foreclosure homeowner agrees, the agreement is always negotiable. Secondly, buying pre-foreclosure could save you up to 40% of market value of the foreclosure home. It means if a foreclosure home’s market value is 250,000USD, you could save up to 100,000USD. Sure your neighbors will envy you for you owning the same house with them but with the different price they are paying.

Thirdly, buying pre-foreclosure straight from homeowner as compared to buying foreclosure home through auction or REO (Real Estate Owned) allows you to have adequate time to research on the conditions of the foreclosure home. As stated above, the agreement involves only you and the homeowner, you can always have a look on the title and other details of the foreclosure home as long as the homeowner gives a green light, can’t you? For most of the cases, buying pre-foreclosure needs lesser down payment and this make the fourth advantage of buying pre-foreclosure. As long you got your lender, everything should be going smooth.

Of cause, buying pre-foreclosure have not only these 4 advantages, but they are the major one. Having so many advantages in buying pre-foreclosure, does it mean buying pre-foreclosure is easy? I doubt it. Great bargains always need efforts and good things don’t easily have you unless, you planned your strategy properly in buying pre-foreclosure.

For being involved in both home loan and real estate career offline, Shawn Daren is experienced to share his knowledges with us. His buying foreclosure website provides info on picking up great foreclosure bargains. Learn how to buy foreclosure and earn your real estate money.

How To Buy The Right Franchise

One of the most successful marketing concepts ever created is a franchise. With the success of franchises like Subway, Quiznos, 7-Eleven, Baskin Robbins, and so many more, buying a franchise is fast becoming one the most popular ways to start a business of your own.

Buying a franchise is like purchasing an existing small business with a proven track record. You have an established name, a proven business plan that works, and an established territory to find customers.

This all sounds great, but before you go ahead and purchase a franchise from an ad you saw on television or in a magazine you must do your research. You have to find out whether the franchise is right for you and that you will have the support you need from the franchiser.

The first thing you must do is to find out which franchise is right for you. Where does your expertise and interests lie? In accounting or tax services; food and restaurants; automotive products and services. Do you like to travel? If you do then you should look at travel franchise. If you think you’d be interested in owning a store, then you should look at franchise opportunities in the convenience store category. You choices are virtually unlimited.

Once you’ve decided on the type of franchise you want, then you have to evaluate the franchise. You need to know if the franchise has staying power or is it another “pet rock” or “hula hoop?” Will you be in a good location or will you be trying to sell refrigerators to Eskimos? Most importantly, you need to know who the franchisers are.

Check out the key executives’ resumes and ask them some tough questions, face-to-face. What plans and strategy does management have for continually developing a competitive edge? How much is spent for developing new products or services?

Visit the corporate headquarters and talk to the company’s top executives? What do they talk about? Are they frank and direct in answering your questions? Look at the work environment, and look at the lower-level employees. Are they the cream of the crop or the bottom of the barrel? Ask them, “What should I personally expect from you and your top executives?” “Why should I buy this franchise?” If you find that they’re just too busy to see you, imagine what kind of help you’ll get once you’re in the field.

The franchiser should be willing to do all of the following: train you; help with your business plan; handle complex legal, accounting, and tax issues; develop new products and services; reduce the risk of business failure; solve unforeseen problems; and help you find a buyer when it’s time to sell.

Franchising is not always as great in practice as it is in theory. For one thing, the franchising agreement you sign may have long lists of “gottas.’ The “gottas” refer to the hours you’ve got to stay open, the business appearance standards you’ve got to adhere to, the inventory levels you’ve got to maintain, and the guidelines and quotas you’ve got to follow.

If you’re going to buy a franchise you must be a team player. You need to be willing to accept a certain amount of regulation and give up a certain amount of freedom. Some other important qualities you must have include being goal-directed, persistent, independent, profit-focused, self-confident, risk-oriented, self-disciplined, street-smart, and opportunistic.

If you possess all these qualities and you want to start your own business without starting from scratch then buying a franchise could be the be best way for you to go. If you choose the franchise that is right for you and it fits all the support criteria, owning a franchise can be very rewarding without all the headaches of starting your own business from scratch.

Holiday Travel with Kids

If there were ever two words that went together, they are “holiday” and “travel”. They can be a pain in the neck during the holidays if you travel with kids.

Holiday Travel

I happen to be a big fan of the Christmas televisions shows. I happily admit that I am still a fan of the Grinch, the island of toys and, of course, Rudolf. Alas, one can’t help buy notice none of these shows make any mention of holiday travel. While we occasionally see Santa in his sleigh, he certainly isn’t sitting in a depressing airport lounge waiting for a four hour flight delay to pass.

Holidays are a great time because they give you a chance to loaf. If you’re traveling out of town to a family home, you can anticipate spending a few days of eating too much, sleeping a lot, watching football and pretending to explain gifts to a child while you are really playing with them. Everyone looks forward to these family gatherings.

Nobody looks forward to actually going through the process of traveling to family gatherings. Travel by airplane, and you have to sit in crowded airports, suffer through connecting flights, pray the weather doesn’t act up and, of course, wedge yourself into a seat made for a super model. There is also that moment of apprehension when the plane is loading and you hope not to get stuck to “drunk guy”, “gonna get sick guy”, “cute, hyperactive child” or an insurance salesman. All of these downfalls are multiplied when you travel with your kids.

Being a child is about having fun and exploring your surroundings. Sitting in an airport for 5 hours is not conducive to such things. The old Stapelton Airport in Denver used to have a giant waiting room that was painted in dark red. When the weather acted up, it was like getting a 10 hour preview of hell. As miserable as you might be with delays, your child will be ten times worse off. So, what do you do?

In this age of the gadget, there is always the video game. There problem, however, is there something disturbing about watching a child’s eyes glaze over as he digitally kills monsters, other humans or whatever happens to be on the screen. One has to wonder what society will be like in another 20 years or so when these video game experts come to the forefront.

A better solution to your child’s boredom would be to get them engrossed in something that actually helps their minds grow. Books are great, particularly the latest installment of Harry Potter which is sure to keep them engrossed for a few hours. Another option is to give the writing journals, and tell them to write down things such as their impressions of the trip, all the important things they experienced during 2005 and so on. Both of these options will keep them from being miserable as well as develop a skill other than pressing a button as fast as humanely possible.
