In many businesses you have a product and a consumer. In the marketing business your more like the person who brings the two together. Marketing is a service but it incorporates many other services to bring about a network of advertising vehicles. If you are in a sales position where you are soliciting a product or service, there is some advice that might be helpful when speaking to other businesses. There are times during a year that are good times and other times that might not be so good. As I always state in any advice I give, every market is different, so this is more of a generalized theory than anything else.
Rather than get wordy and lengthy in my explanation and reasoning, I’ll give best and worst times:
Best Times for B2B selling:
* The months of January and February. (First of year numbers start over)
* Between the dates of the 10th through 25th of any month except December. (Meat of month less bills)
* Between the 5th and 20th of December. (moves up a bit due to holidays)
* The last week in December. (Some companies like to dump excess funds to escape taxes)
* First of January, April, July & October (Typically first of each quarter for quarterly companies)
Worst Times for B2B selling:
* Any holiday period. (companies may be closed)
* The week leading up to the tax deadlines. (business owners stressed and sometimes facing big bills)
* The last week in December. (This is either hit or miss. While it can be the best, it can also be the worst)
* The end of March, June, September & December. (End of quarter for quarterly companies)
* Weekends. (This one is obvious, but Saturday and Sunday are probably the worst)
Again, these are generalized timeframes for business to business selling. If it’s business to customer, it’s a completely different ballgame because weekends are great for customers, along with holidays. You should always try to sell 365 days a year in some fashion, but put more emphasis towards the prime, or best selling times.

Most aspiring network marketers spend a lot of time searching for the perfect companyone that will finally work for them! In my opinion, that’s the wrong thing to focus on if you want long term success in network marketing.
Joining a great company is important, don’t get me wrong. But you can join a great company and still be a miserable failure in the networking business.
Much more important than a great company is working with a great sponsor!
Show me any super-successful person in network marketing and I almost guarantee they didn’t do it on their own. While it’s possible to have success in network marketing with no support from your sponsor, it’s MUCH harder.
Most highly successful people in network marketing will point to their sponsor as their source of education, support and inspiration.
You want a sponsor who is going to guide you to success. They should be your mentor, eager to help you learn the ropes of the business and teach you the mistakes they made and the shortcuts you should take.
Your sponsor should do everything they can to turn you into a networking leader because they are rewarded in direct proportion to the number of leaders on their team.
What makes a great sponsor?
The most important characteristic of a great sponsor is they need to be active in the network marketing business they are in. Active not only means they are recruiting people onto their team, it means they are participating in company conference calls, attending local business briefings and going to all company conventions.
Active sponsors are also constantly learning about the network marketing business by attending training from third party experts and reading books on how to succeed in network marketing.
Great sponsors don’t necessarily need to be “old-timers” in their network marketing company. They can be relatively new-what’s most important is that they are active and “plugged-in”. That way they can plug you in to the key people on the team and the company resources you need to get started quickly.
So before you go hunting for the next great network marketing company, make sure you’ve found a great sponsor first!

New Content Notification - You’ve probably seen sites that offer to notify you whenever they have new information, products, or content. To tell you the truth, this is probably the least effective kind of opt-in list, simply because most people won’t sign-up. Instead, they’ll bookmark your site thinking they’ll just come back from time to time - but don’t count it! Of course, there are certain kinds of sites that CAN benefit from this form of opt-in list. For example, if you have a site that runs contests, you can offer to notify people whenever a new contest begins.
Free Report - Another kind of opt-in list involves the offer of a free report, or series of reports. However, be careful with this! By offering a free report, you are restricting the number of times you can mail to your list … it’s not a good idea to capture the names and then bombard them with a continual stream of sales material when they were only expecting one or two reports. This would be considered spamming! If you offer a free report, it should contain “real” information and a reason for them to visit your website again.
Resource Updates - You can offer to update subscribers on various issues or resources.
